"Exchange knowledge, not dreams!" is the slogan of the Learning exchange project developed by SIAE and now functioning in seven cities of Slovenia: Ljubljana, Maribor, Novo mesto, Slovenj Gradec, Izola, Murska Sobota and Škofja Loka.

Learning exchange is an information system connecting people who have knowledge and are willing to pass it on to those who are seeking it. Information is being exchanged by phone, on a regular basis it is also published in several public media. Via the Learning exchange people are either looking for or offering various types of knowledge, even the most unusual ones.

Learning exchange started to work experimentally in 1992 at SIAE. Back then the organisational system and the computer data processing programme were developed and the support of public media was gained. The next year, Learning exchange was transferred to the Workers' Library (Delavska knjižnica) in Ljubljana in order to enhance its accessibility. Today, there are seven Learning exchange sites in Slovenia with several thousand members registered. They are all linked via internet and share a common data base.
